2. Iowa City native ready for ‘Love’ 💘

An Iowa City woman was chosen to be on Season 6 of the Netflix reality dating show, “Love is Blind.”
Mackenzie Tenold, 25, a makeup artist who lives in Charlotte, N.C., is a 2019 University of Iowa graduate who lives with her Shih Tzu/maltese dog, LuLu.
Unlike other shows of its kind, “Love is Blind” contestants can’t judge potential marriage partners on their looks; they’re seated in pods, talking to one another through the wall. Only once they decide on one (to “get engaged”) does the show allow them to meet face-to-face.
According to the Netflix trailer, Tenold already knows one quality in particular she’s looking for in a partner:
💬 “Whether I’m blessed enough to have [children] myself, or have to adopt, it would be a dealbreaker if they didn’t want to have children.”
~Mackenzie Tenold

Christopher Abbott of Glenwood, who was a police officer in Bellevue, Nebraska, died last year at the age of 48.
But his love of youth softball and dedication to making quality places to play for kids in Glenwood was the reason Abbott was awarded, posthumously, the 2023 GameChanger Award.
GameChanger, a youth sports and stats app owned by Dick’s Sporting Goods, said an award ceremony will take place this spring in Glenwood with Abbott’s family.
💬 “Officer Abbott’s efforts to elevate youth sports in Glenwood will greatly benefit young athletes in the community for years to come. His accomplishments not only echo our belief that youth sports change lives on and off the field, but serve as a powerful reminder of the enduring impact one person can have on others.”
~Sameer Ahuja, GameChanger president

This is Phoenix. He’s part husky, so he and snow get along fine. (We wouldn’t let him stay outside too long in the bitter temps of late, however.)
