A new seven-figure ad campaign will promote the work of Cindy Axne and Abby Finkenauer for their efforts to protect Iowans with pre-existing conditions and reduce the cost of care and prescription drugs. The national group Protect Our Care is running the ad campaign, called “Better Care, Lower Costs” across the country, focusing on twenty districts, including Iowa’s 1st and 3rd districts.

Last week, Protect Our Care launched its first digital ads in support of these 20 House members that promoted Axne’s and Finkenauer’s support for the Strengthening Health Care and Lowering Prescription Drug Costs Act (H.R. 987), which seeks to end the Trump Administration’s push for junk health plans, begins to reduce the costs of prescription drugs, and reverses the Trump Administration’s efforts to undermine open enrollment.

The ads supporting the work of Finkenauer and Axne are already online, and will air online throughout each district. Grassroots campaigns being run by Protect Our Care in each district are also underway to highlight the stories of Iowa families, in partnership with local groups such as Progress Iowa and Indivisible Iowa.

“Two years ago, Republicans voted for health care repeal and cheered in the White House Rose Garden as they stripped away protections for people with pre-existing conditions, slashed coverage and hiked premiums and prescription drug costs,” said Progress Iowa executive director Matt Sinovic. “Now President Trump and his allies are trying to do the same thing in court. Cindy Axne and Abby Finkenauer are working to protect health care for people when they get sick and lower costs for hard-working Americans. We’re going to make sure that despite the clutter and noise of Washington, constituents know when who stands up for health care and fights to lower costs and improve care, and who was cheering as they threatened the lives of Iowans by taking away their care.”
