With a roiling national debate over healthcare, immigration and Donald Trump’s presidency, Congressional town hall forums in recent weeks have seen massive turnouts of angry constituents. In a reversal from the 2009 forums that sparked the creation of the Tea Party, this year it’s Republicans who have found themselves on the defensive. Both Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst will host their own town halls this week across the state. None of Iowa’s U.S. House members have anything scheduled.
Grassley typically restricts his public events to smaller, Republican-leaning counties during early hours of the day. He hasn’t held a public meeting during his 99 County Tour in any of Iowa’s top ten populated counties in the past four years, and that tactic doesn’t appear to be changing this time. Grassley has four announced events this week, Ernst has one.
Here’s where Grassley and Ernst will be this week:

I’ve queried Rod Blum’s office twice in the past two weeks – no events scheduled as of yet.
I see my friend Doug Burns from the Carroll Daily Times Herald in the back ground.
You’ll probably see me use this picture a lot – one of my favorite ones I’ve gotten over the years
Are these really people who formerly voted for the people they’re now holding accountable or those who voted against? If they’re the latter, their outrage won’t change anything. It’s just venting.
Nothing in the Des Moines area? Cowards?
