The June 7 primary is fast approaching, when Iowa Democratic voters will decide which of three candidates will be their party’s nominee to take on Sen. Chuck Grassley.
In the final weeks, Abby Finkenauer, Mike Franken and Glenn Hurst have traveled all over the state to make their final pitches to voters. And the Iowa Starting Line team was along with them on the campaign trail to give you an up-close look at how these candidates interact with real people beyond the stump speech.
During our trips with them, Franken, a retired three-star admiral, donated an old combat uniform to a veterans museum on Memorial Day; Finkenauer, a former congresswoman, talked infrastructure investments with a small-town mayor; and Hurst, a rural doctor, met several of his own patients along a local parade route.
