Iowa’s House Republicans just voted to help fund a war Congress never authorized—and open the door to new voting restrictions.
This week, House Republicans passed a budget blueprint unlocking up to $95 billion—including up to $73 billion for the ongoing Iran war and $10 billion that could be used to push states toward stricter voter ID and proof-of-citizenship rules.
It passed 216-214. US Reps. Ashley Hinson, Zach Nunn, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and Randy Feenstra all voted yes.
The plan still needs Senate approval, and it’s unclear if that will happen.
