Following a scandal involving an alleged romantic relationship with a military lobbyist, US Sen. Joni Ernst faces new controversy.
As a member of President Donald Trump’s party, she was on the road recently to defend his tax bill that will force an estimated 13.7 million people to lose health insurance by 2034.
At a Parkersburg town hall, audience member India May (pictured) told Ernst, “People will die” due to insurance gaps the bill creates. Ernst responded with a smirk: “Well, we all are going to die, for heaven’s sakes.”
On this episode of Cornhole Champions, ISL colleagues Zachary Oren Smith, Avery Staker, and Amie Rivers discuss this gaffe and how Iowans are reacting to Ernst’s “apology” video.
We also interviewed May about her viral moment, and her run for Iowa House in Northeast Iowa.
