An Iowa company is at the center of a major federal egg price-fixing case.

The Justice Department and attorneys general from 17 states—including Iowa—have reached a proposed settlement with three of the nation’s largest egg producers over allegations they coordinated to artificially inflate egg prices between 2022 and 2025.

One of the defendants, Versova Holdings, is based in Sioux Center, Iowa, and owns Trillium Farms.

If approved by a federal court, the companies would pay $3.3 million to participating states, donate roughly 53 million eggs to food banks and nonprofits, and adopt new antitrust compliance measures. The companies deny wrongdoing.
