Trump’s Iowa steel plant named fail of the week

On Sept. 28, President Donald Trump announced a $15 billion steelmaking complex in Iowa before any deal was reached with the owners.

A special legislative session has been called for Oct. 2 so state lawmakers can decide whether to give money to the company, Mesabi Metallics, to build it.

On @nymag’s Pivot podcast this week, host Scott Galloway said Trump’s announcement was “performative masculinity,” and will ultimately raise costs down the supply chain.
