Iowa’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand described a break-in at his home last Thanksgiving by a man who was schizophrenic and living outdoors, when asked in Tuesday night’s debate how he would expand mental healthcare.
Sand said Iowa doesn’t have enough psychiatric beds and that untreated mental illness “becomes our problem too” when the issue goes unchecked.
