Former presidential candidate and US Sen. Bernie Sanders will stop in Iowa this week to show solidarity with workers who have been on strike for over a month.
Sanders will hold a town hall in Burlington at 3:30 p.m. Friday with United Auto Workers Local 807, which represents striking workers at CNH Industrial.
The town hall will be held at Dankwardt Park Band Shell, at 2305 Madison Ave., and is open to the public.
More than 1,000 CNH, or Case New Holland, workers in Burlington as well as in Racine, Wisconsin, have been on strike since the beginning of May. They are asking the company, which reported $4.6 billion in consolidated revenue in the first four months of 2022, for better wages, retirement benefits, and working conditions.

“The corporation made $1.7 billion in profits, spent $100 million on stock buybacks, but insists on jacking up health care costs for workers,” Iowa Labor News said of CNHi in announcing Sanders’ visit.
During his presidential runs in 2016 and 2020, Sanders was perhaps best known for railing against billionaires and the ruling class and supporting the working class and unionization efforts specifically.
