Shaely Odean is one year post-grad from the University of Iowa, working as Starting Line’s 2026 summer intern. She earned her bachelor’s in journalism and mass communication and a certificate in sustainability sciences. Reporting tangible, reliable, and hard-hitting news to Iowans is not only her job but her favorite pastime.

Joey Held is a writer and author and the founder of Fun Fact Friyay. He’s regularly planning travel adventures and encourages exploring new places with curiosity and kindness.

Kristine Gill is a freelance writer and editor based in Ohio with a background in newspaper journalism and public-sector communications. 

Lindsey Giardino is a writer based in central Iowa. She’s worked with clients ranging in industries from higher education to healthcare to technology and beyond. She dubs herself a lifelong learner, an avid reader, a sub-par cook, and a tries-her-best mom to three little boys.
