Former President Donald Trump continues to encourage his massive base to turn out in droves for him during Monday’s Republican caucus and told an Indianola crowd on Sunday it is worth dying if they can support him.
“We got to do it, we got to do it big—you can’t sit home,” Trump told a capacity crowd on the campus of Simpson College. “If you’re sick as a dog … even if you vote and then pass away it’s worth it.”
Sunday’s rally in Indianola is Trump’s last major Iowa event before the caucus. A who’s who of Trump supporters came out for the rally, including Glenn Jacobs, the current mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee, and a pro wrestler best known for his run as Kane in the WWE.
“Where is Kane? Look at the size of this guy, man, oh, man. He’s all man,” Trump said of Jacbos, who confirmed he is 6-foot-8 and weighs about 300 pounds after Trump asked. “Well, that’s not bad. I’m not that far away. That’s not good. You just ruined my day.”
North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, who ended his bid for the Republican presidential nomination a few months back, also attended the rally. Burgum came on stage to endorse Trump, who leads the pack in Iowa, followed by former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“Tomorrow when you caucus, you have an opportunity to send a message to the nation and a message to the world that Donald J. Trump will make America great again,” Burgum said.
